Approach

From the first walk to handover.

Six stages, each with clear deliverables, so you always know what has been decided and what comes next.

  1. Discover

We start on site and in conversation. Walks, interviews and a review of the brief establish what the place needs, what the budget can carry, and what the clients want the building to do.

    • Site visit and photographic record
    • Brief workshop notes
    • Initial constraints summary
  2. Research

We map climate, sun paths, rainfall, flood lines, existing materials and local construction skills. Heritage fabric and community routes are recorded alongside the technical data.

    • Climate and sun-path analysis
    • Material and craft inventory
    • Context and heritage survey
  3. Concept

Two or three design directions are tested against the research. We build simple study models and sketch the spatial logic before drawing any plan in detail.

    • Concept options and sketches
    • Massing and study models
    • Preferred direction report
  4. Design Development

The chosen concept is refined into plans, sections and material palettes. Climate moves such as courtyards, screens and verandahs are checked against thermal and daylight estimates.

    • Developed plans and sections
    • Material and finishes palette
    • Climate and daylight checks
  5. Documentation

Working drawings, specifications and tender packages are prepared, and approvals are coordinated with the relevant authorities. Details are drawn clearly enough for local masons to build from on site.

    • Working drawings and details
    • Specifications and bill of quantities
    • Approvals support
  6. Site & Handover

We stay involved through construction with site visits and reviews, then hand over a clear record of the building: maintenance notes, material care and as-built drawings.

    • Site review reports
    • As-built drawings
    • Maintenance and material care guide
How we collaborate

Practical questions, answered.

Fees, timelines, site visits and remote work are the questions we hear most often. If yours is not listed, write to us and we will answer it.

We agree fees for each project after the first conversation, based on scope, site conditions and the stages you need. The proposal sets out every stage, its deliverables and its fee, so you can see what you are paying for before any work begins.

Stages can also be commissioned separately, from concept design alone to construction support.

It depends on scale, approvals and construction. Each proposal includes an indicative schedule for every stage, and we update it at each review so you always know what comes next. Approvals and site access are usually the biggest variables, and we plan for both from the start.

Yes. We begin with a site visit for every commission, to walk the land, see its surroundings and talk to the people who use the place. During construction we return at key stages for reviews, and we plan those visits around milestones so each trip is productive.

Yes. We work with clients across India and can take on projects further afield. Research, concept and documentation are shared digitally, with video reviews at each stage. Site visits are scheduled in person, and a local contractor or representative can coordinate day-to-day progress where needed.

Bring whatever you already have: a brief or wish list, the site location and any plans or photos, a budget range even if it is approximate, your timeline, and any existing approvals or heritage notes. Missing pieces are fine. We will help you identify what is needed and what can wait.

Let’s work together

Let’s create something meaningful.

Have a project in mind? We’d love to hear about it.
