Architectural Design

Buildings grounded in place, climate and craft.

Our architectural practice starts with the site and the people who will use it. We design houses, shops, schools, halls and guesthouses that respond to sun, rain and wind, and that treat local materials and skills as part of the design rather than an afterthought.

Every building is developed through research, concept testing and detailed design. Climate-responsive elements such as courtyards, deep verandahs, jaali screens and stack ventilation are considered from the first sketch, not added at the end when the budget is nearly spent.

We work with clients who want honest, durable buildings. Our drawings are detailed enough for local contractors to build from, and our specifications are written so that repairs can be made with materials that are available in the district.

Brief and site visit

We meet the clients, walk the site and set out what the building must do, the budget and the timeline.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Concept design usually takes six to ten weeks, depending on the brief and how many options are explored. Documentation and approvals take a further two to four months, and construction depends on the site, budget and contractor. We agree a programme at the start and review it at each stage.

Yes. The practice has worked across several states, from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh to Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttarakhand. For projects further away we combine remote design with regular site visits and a local supervisor where needed.

We design with the budget in mind from the first conversation. Early on we identify which elements affect cost most and propose options that keep the building within the agreed range without weakening its climate performance.

Wherever the brief allows, yes. Local stone, brick, lime and timber are often more durable, cheaper to repair and better suited to the climate. We draw details that local masons can build confidently and maintain for years.
