The Studio

A studio shaped by places and the people in them.

Since 2014, Studio Vastyukt has worked from Bhopal across scales, from houses and community buildings to heritage sites and urban plans.

A practice rooted in people, place and possibilities.

Studio Vastyukt is an architecture and urban design studio exploring the relationship between built environments, communities and culture. We work across scales, from buildings to cities, with a focus on context, climate, inclusivity and meaningful design.

Our work begins with listening: to the site, to the climate, to the people who will use a building, and to the craft traditions that can build it. We use courtyards, verandahs and jaali screens where they earn their keep, and we choose local materials that can be repaired by local hands.

From heritage restoration on the Ujjain ghats to a skill institute in Bhuj, the practice is guided by one simple test: will this place still work for the people who live with it in thirty years?

How We Work

Four commitments, on every project.

  1. 01

    Listen first

Every brief starts on site and in conversation: the climate, the streets, the people who will use the building, and the craft that can build it.

  2. 02

    Build with local hands

Details are drawn so that masons from the district can build the work and repair it later. Materials are chosen for durability and honesty.

  3. 03

    Design for the long term

We test ideas against climate, daylight and daily use, and ask whether a place will still work for its people in thirty years.

  4. 04

    Stay involved

We stay part of the work from the first site visit to handover, with regular reviews on site and a clear record of the finished building.

Let’s work together

Let’s create something meaningful.

Have a project in mind? We’d love to hear about it.
